equiLearn™, LLC was founded by four individuals with diverse skill sets while they were in their final years at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (
www.rpi.edu).
The company was established because the executives recognized a need within the educational technology marketplace. Although there were many providers of Web-based education "supplements", none offered highly customizable solutions that were appropriately scaled for small institutions. The assumption in the marketplace was that small institutions have the same needs as the bigger players, but we recognize that they are different. Our product is offered in a highly customizable format, allowing our customers to select and (pay for) just the modules they feel add value to their educational environment.
Our service is delivered in a higher quality, more targeted means than our competitors, and is offered at a price that our smaller customers can afford. This model is possible due to two factors:
- We deliver our system via the Internet to our customers. By serving as an Application Service Provider, we eliminate the need for our customers to install servers on site. By outsourcing the server maintenance and upgrades to equiLearn™, we allow our customers to concentrate on their core competency: delivering education.
- The blanket prices offered by our competitors force customers to pay for features they never see or touch. The modular, customizable technology developed by equiLearn™ allows educational institutions to choose exactly what features will add value to their environment. Our customers only pay for the modules they need, saving money while simultaneously receiving a highly customized product that meets all of their needs.
